Lyn is also a mentor for young authors at Thurber House's writing camps and workshops for young people, and is listed in the teaching artists' directory of the Ohio State-Based Collaborative Initiative (OSBCI) of the Kennedy Center for the Arts; Lyn provides professional development workshops for educators and other mentors through this program. Lyn Ford was selected as a 2008 "Friend of Education" in the Reynoldsburg, Ohio, public school district, for her support and enrichment of learning at Herbert Mills Elementary School through annual Fine Arts and English Language Arts programming as the school's storyteller-in-residence. Lyn is also a 2007 National Storytelling Network Oracle Award for Leadership and Service Award winner.
